Mrs Siew Allen... Further Information

Well, with a name like Siew Allen, I have come to embrace East and West, its cultures and life philosophies, and I have had experience as general nurse, midwife, and taught midwifery in England.

I have a Malaysian Chinese background, and have integrated myself with the western art of healing in the NHS for 34 years, observing the pill popping and surgical results from the early days of the 70's and latter years of the 80's.

During the early years of my work, I was impressed with how these western drugs were so powerful in changing symptoms and signs of diseases, however they left the patient often needing more help than ever from the use of drugs. And if these did not work, surgery was often the answer. Otherwise, one was usually left to live with the disease.

What I had observed overall, was that the NHS is brilliant at changing the disease scenario, but not really getting to the underlying causes of the diseases, and getting the health back for the patient.

But when it comes to tackling and recognising the early stages of an onset of a disease state, the health service has difficulties. Most of its measurements of health are devoted to looking for abnormally high levels of toxins or hormones in the blood. Abnormal tissue changes are detected when the body is quite ill.

Unfortunately, there are a considerable number of people out there visiting doctor's surgeries and have been told that they are alright, and that the blood tests did not reveal any ill health that western doctors are familiar with.

Bad health states do not just arise suddenly. The biological state of the body undergoes a lot of changes in the early stages of bad health or disease. Often these changes are subtle and may go unnoticed to the person involved.

The earliest changes are in the energy levels of the person. Energy flow goes up and down, and the body is very adept at re-adjusting to sustain a healthy state. The body also intelligently works together with other organ systems to reinstate a reasonable level of well being.

However, when energy flow is poor or disrupted by ill health, it should not be ignored. This is manifest by the sluggish workings of the body when the energy compromised.

Poor energy flow or its disruption in the body may be due to emotional or physical injuries which have not healed sufficiently. Other influences of energy flow may be affected by the exposure to external toxins, germs, or internal ones such as drugs like alcohol, prescribed medicines, and homotoxins.

My belief is that we should be more aware of how, all the above, can affect the functions of the body, manifesting in varying energy levels. In general, according to Chinese Medical philosophy, low energy level indicates a low functioning of the organ system in the body.

So it makes sense to use the various forms of acupuncture treatments to balance the energy in order that the body organs are fuelled with sufficient energy to maintain the various chemical functions required of them to keep the body alive and growing.
